As the year comes to an end, many students at Chandler High are thinking about what they want to change, improve, or try in the new year. From better grades to better habits, New Year’s resolutions are a way for students to set goals and look forward to a fresh start.
Chandler High senior Tori Boyd explained her resolution is all about staying on track academically during her final semester. “I really want to stay organized and not fall behind,” Boyd said. “Senior year is exciting, but it’s also stressful, and I want to finish strong before graduation.”
Others are hoping to improve their overall health, and to fully commit to it in the new year. “My goal is to start going to the gym at least two times a week,” senior Casey Sanchez-Moyers shared. “I always say I’ll start next week, but I think the new year is a good time to actually do it.”
Another senior, Christian Trevizo, said he wants to try something new this year. “I want to join a club because I didn’t do anything outside of classes this semester,” Trevizo shared. “I’m nervous, but I think it’ll help me make friends and expand my horizons.”
Senior orchestra musician Zoe McGinley has a different kind of goal. “I want to focus more on hobbies and expand my skills,” McGinley said. “It’s always fun to start and learn a new hobby, so I want to give it everything I’ve got.”
Whether the goals are big or small, many at Chandler High agree that New Year’s resolutions offer motivation and hope. And while not every resolution will last all year, students say trying is what matters most.
“Even if I don’t do it perfectly, at least I’m trying to be better,” said Trevizo.
