The National Honor Society’s blood drive on October 31 made a huge difference! Donating blood can help individuals who need it for various medical conditions. Chandler High was more than prepared to assist in this important cause.
Every year, NHS hosts a blood drive where anyone 18 or older, or 16 with a guardian’s permission, can donate. NHS President Peyton Postovit led the effort this year. Along with his fellow officers, he aimed to ensure the safety and comfort of all students at Chandler. “Inside, there will be snacks and water… the nurses are trained professionals who provide excellent support,” he assured. If you’re concerned about fainting or needles, rest assured that trained medical staff will be there to help.
Peyton’s goal was to double the number of volunteers this year. While scheduled appointments were a little short of this goal before drive day, he remained hopeful: “Sometimes it is tough to collect blood, which is why we rely on youth volunteers.” Recruitment efforts focused on the immense satisfaction of giving blood and knowing you might save a life. As an added incentive, all donors received a $10 gift card of their choice!
Thank you to everyone who signed up and helped to save someone’s life. If you donated, we sure hope you drank a lot of water and ate a lot of food afterwards. Be sure to be on the lookout for the next blood drive hosted by NHS!
