Enjoying prom on a budget

Enjoying+prom+on+a+budget

Have you considered your budget for prom? Have you tallied up the prices to look at the big picture and wished you could have found some coupons or cheaper prices? This year was a good one for those budgeting for prom here at CHS. Stores such as Fry’s even had discounts for students attending the dance. Teachers here at CHS even offered free dresses and suits for students who need them.

Chandler High School’s 2024 Prom was held on April 20th. Prom was held at the Children’s Museum Phoenix from 7 pm to 11 pm, each ticket was $75 but the early bird discount was $10 off. Remember for next year to bring an ID to purchase and enter Prom! The theme this year was Gatsby, as in the party that is held at Jay Gatsby’s mansion in the beginning of The Great Gatsby. Many of the guests were very well-dressed and the atmosphere was energetic. The music and environment were booming throughout the night similar to Gatsby’s party! Although the traffic on the way over was intense, it was well worth it.

Seniors such as Kenna Peterson and Ramon Ayala shared that their budget was fairly large for prom, but they did not know about the discounts on corsages and only knew about the free prom attire. Peterson admitted, “The only reason I didn’t take the discounts on campus is because I did not have the time nor energy to plan it.” Remember, CHS has dresses and suits that are free just for students! Fry’s made corsages for students going to prom at a cheap price of $4!

Peterson and Ayala advise future students who are going to prom to cut expenses for prom, no matter how small it is. Kenna said to “take advantage of things that are cheaper like dresses and corsages, maybe even thrifting dresses!” Little details like purchasing tickets with the early bird discount, thrifting, or even carpooling with friends can save a lot of money when budgeting for prom. Be sure to consider all possible options to make your prom cheaper, more affordable, and more fun! Take pride in finding discounts and cheaper options. Remember, CHS and communities all around Chandler are trying to help you have more fun on your special day.
