Every year, people all over the world get together to celebrate Christmas. Many people start to get into the Christmas spirit in November, but some people start to get into the Christmas spirit even as early as August. In my opinion, if anyone starts to get into the Christmas spirit any month before October or November, they’re delusional. The debate of when people should start getting ready to celebrate Christmas has been around for years. Of course, deciding when you should start celebrating Christmas is up to you, but I happen to have a preference and an argument as to why you should celebrate Christmas no more than 2 months in advance.
A junior at CHS, Dice Iniguez, argues that people celebrate Christmas way too early. Dice says that Halloween should be celebrated first, then after Thanksgiving, you can start celebrating Christmas with the Christmas spirit and decorating your house. Dice recalls many times when they “saw posts on Instagram where people are fantasizing about Christmas presents, snow, Christmas trees,” and more. Dice agrees that mid-November, it is appropriate to start celebrating Christmas because “nobody really cares about Thanksgiving.” I agree with these statements because people do celebrate Christmas way too early and not a lot of people decorate for Thanksgiving.
The reason why I believe Christmas should be celebrated after October is because Halloween is such an awaited holiday, too, but saying that we should start decorating for Christmas before Halloween is just delusional. Halloween is a holiday that is just as popular for many people as Christmas, which is why Christmas should be encouraged or celebrated after October is over.
