Since 1989, the Arizona Renaissance Festival has been an awaited event for Arizona as it lasts from January 31 to March 29. It’s located in Gold Canyon and is open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays. The Arizona Renaissance Festival is designed as a 16th century village with 51 acres of land that features 16 stages of plays, music, comedy shows, etc. Actors are also seen walking around the park as they contribute to their characters while interacting with guests. The Queen and the three princesses are the first people you see as they warmly welcome everyone on the bridge before entering.
The festival also includes scheduled jousting tournaments, games like axe throwing, archery, and more. There’s many food venues across the park as they’re mainly known for their delicious turkey legs. With over 200 marketplaces, each one of them have unique styles that contribute to the theme of the 16th century. Items like swords, knight gear, historic dresses, and jewelry. Handmade workshops are also seen at the festival that show candlemaking, blacksmithing, woodcarving, leatherwork, weaving, and even glassblowing.
Sophomore Connor Racine, a student at Chandler High School who once visited the Renaissance Festival, shared how he “liked the environment and the food was really good.” Although, as the years go on, for Arizona, the temperatures have increased drastically. This year marked a world record for the hottest March temperature in Arizona as it reached 112 degrees. People at the festival were seen passing out due to the overwhelming amount of sun intake. Overall, as the festival is a wonderful place to visit, the hot weather makes it difficult to enjoy the park.
