Concerts are thrilling experiences that many people enjoy, but the prices of tickets can be extremely expensive… so is it really worth it? According to Chandler High students, concerts are worth the money because you get to experience an artist live and you are able to enjoy music in a fun way.

Senior Isabella Garcia said concerts are only worth the money when they are reasonably priced; if they are overpriced, it is unnecessary. Junior Desmayia said all concert tickets should be $200 or less, while others said that it depends on the artist, and the popularity of said artist determines the price. For example, some people may spend thousands of dollars on Taylor Swift tickets, while only spending $40 to $50 on lesser known artists. Beyoncé is coming to Arizona on August 24, 2023, and her tickets are around $37 for seats higher in the stands, whereas Drake who is also coming to Arizona on September 5-6 is selling his tickets for almost $400.

According to People Magazine, in 2023 the price of concert tickets have skyrocketed so much that they are equivalent to the cost of some people’s monthly rent. The five major reasons they are this expensive is because of the artist, the promoters, the venues, the ticket companies, and the ticket resellers. All five of them play a role: artists need to make money to pay for the tour, if promoters don’t sell enough tickets they lose money, venues need money to pay to put on the shows and they need to pay fees, ticket companies and ticket resellers are trying to make a profit.

Concerts, though they are enjoyed by many people, are so unbelievably expensive that most people can’t even afford to see their favorite artists.
