Norman Knox, known as Norm to most, is a dedicated security guard at Chandler High School who consistently ensures the safety of students and staff while brightening everyone’s day.
Having worked at Chandler for five years, Norm truly enjoys the school environment. He relocated to Arizona in 2020 from New Mexico, where he had served as a police officer. Now a retired officer, Norm is one of the many security guards at Chandler. His duties involve ensuring campus safety and making sure that students and staff feel secure. By far, Norm’s favorite part of the job is interacting with the students. Whether it’s chatting about their day or helping them stay on track, Norm is always there to support and connect with CHS students.
Working in a school can be a challenging job, and not everyone is suited for it. However, Norm is committed to his career and is willing to go to great lengths to fulfill his responsibilities. This includes managing parking lots, providing rides around campus, and opening or closing various gates. In case of an emergency, it is up to the security team to ensure everyone’s safety. Norm takes charge by notifying those involved, then calmly proceeding to the emergency location to check on the situation.
Norm is known for being calm, cool, and collected. When facing a difficult situation, he believes in “treating everyone as human beings and making it clear that [he is] there for them.”
A positive influence on campus, Norm is such a great asset at Chandler High. You can often spot him riding around on his golf cart throughout the day. Be sure to say hello to one of the nicest people on campus!
