In a world that is getting darker and darker, Samantha Webb has always been able to see the brighter side of life.
As Sam graduates this May after four years at Chandler High School, we asked her to reflect on her experiences, core memories, and friendships she made along the way.
Sam’s most treasured memories go all the way back to her freshman year, when she was just getting to know the friends she would make and keep for the next four years. “I actually have been friends with a bunch of my friends since freshman year,” Sam explained, naming Aleana Samaniego, Kevin Daulton, Kelly Johnson, Bethany DuBose, and Ashley Lagunes as people she remembers from that time and is still close today. Sam said she hopes these friendships will stay close even after they graduate and leave Chandler High School.
Samantha also has many fond memories in the classroom. Her favorite class at CHS was Mrs. Bond’s Anatomy and Physiology class because it was so fun. Although math wasn’t her strongest subject, two of her math teachers, Mrs. Graybill and Ms. Matheson, are also among her favorite teachers. Sam said Mrs. Bond, Mrs. Graybill, and Ms. Matheson really understood her. “I’ve learned that it’s better to almost fail a class than to fully fail it,” Sam explained.
Life is full of both good and bad experiences, and Sam has both positive and negative memories of her time at CHS, including losing a close friend after freshman year. Devastating as it was, Samantha believes it made her into the woman she is today.
Besides the serious memories, Sam also saw some pretty unusual things throughout her time at CHS. One memorably weird moment was seeing a dinosaur roaming across campus during Spirit Week.
“I’m going to miss high school. It’s going to be weird not going to school every day… [It] went by so fast. I don’t even know how I got to senior year,” Sam said.
