As we steer towards the end of the school year and into another, new students from middle school will be entering the next great chapter of their lives: high school. Two CHS seniors offered their hard-earned wisdom for these students just beginning these exciting four years.
Clover Files had crucial advice for incoming and promoting students: “Make sure you’re always trying new things!” Clover said. “You can discover so much about yourself by either joining a club or even trying a new elective.”
Clover explained how the critical year for her was junior year, testing her stamina and pushing her into learning new ways of studying, managing time, and planning for the future all at once.
One thing Clover wished she had done differently was focusing more on her grades as an underclassman. “It paves the stones for the rest of your high school career, ” Clover explained.
Jaden McBean, another soon-to-be-graduate, explained that freshman year can set the tone for your whole high school experience. “Live in the moment,” Jaden suggested, and don’t allow yourself to get too stressed out, even in your first year. McBean explained that senior year was the most important to him, as it is the year he will remember the most. Jaden also suggests dropping poor habits that might have developed in middle school like procrastination, as high school grades are much more permanent and scrutinized.
Jaden wished he had focused on making more memories, since, if you let it, high school can feel like it goes faster and faster without time to stop and take a break.
