Have you ever eaten the cafeteria food for lunch or breakfast and the taste just didn’t sit right or wasn’t even close to your expectations? Well, you’re not the only one! Many Chandler students want a change in the cafeteria food for the better—not just for lunch, but for breakfast too. For those who already enjoy the food in our cafe, many say they would still like to see new menu items or changes to existing items available. We interviewed two Chandler students, Alex Frias Mendoza and Noah Renteria about their experiences and opinions regarding their school lunch experiences.
Alex Frias Mendoza, junior, usually likes the cafeteria food as a quick grab-and-go option. He enjoys the ability to get food at lunch without having to wait in long lines in the heat like you would have to do at a business near campus. “I really like the convenience. I get by just walking a few feet from my class to get a bite without having to break a sweat,” Alex said. However, Alex would love to see a wider variety of options: “Even though the food is alright, I really wish there could be more or better food. It just gets kind of bland after a while.”
Another junior, Noah Renteria, is not a fan of our cafeteria fare. Although he buys school lunch regularly, he doesn’t enjoy it: “Even the chicken sandwich that everyone loves to get, I just can’t eat it and usually give it to my friends to have.” Noah explained, “I really want more food variety at the school lunches since I like to eat during lunch, but the food right now isn’t appetizing whatsoever.”
