Having caught the hearts of millions ever since its debut in 1996, Pokémon has grown into one of the biggest franchises in the entire world. Through its numerous record-shattering games and cartoons, calling it a household name only scratches the surface. With its reach having spread so far, a group of fans came together to form Chandler High’s own Pokémon Club just last school year.
Housed in room 1109, the CHS Pokémon Club is the one-stop shop for fans to meet and talk about all things Pokémon, ranging from its video games, card games, TV shows, and everything in-between. The club also serves as a starting point for those interested in playing competitively, whether it be participating in high-stakes tournaments, or simply battling locally against other members.
The Pokémon Club holds meetings every Wednesday and Thursday. Sophomore Jackie Torres describes them as “really fun. It’s just a whole new experience,” while another member, Nathan Coleman, a junior, recounted to us, “I think it’s fun and I recommend people to join.” Jackie further explains how these meetings help unite like-minded students: “I love the sense of community of loving the same thing.”
The Pokémon Club is an excellent opportunity for anyone who is even remotely interested in Pokémon and would like to meet other people with a similar passion. Luckily, there are no requirements for joining— outside of just liking Pokémon! So simply attend any one of the future meetings to immerse yourself in the exciting world of Pokémon at Chandler High.
