Hugo Ortega joined the Wolf Howl Staff as a reporter in Fall 2024, and we are incredibly grateful to have him on board. He chose to join our team during his senior year because he wanted to be part of a group that collaborates and feels connected to something greater. From the moment he stepped into this role, it was clear that Hugo was passionate about journalism and storytelling. His enthusiasm has been contagious, inspiring our staff to elevate their own work and find new ways to engage with our audience.
Hugo has dedicated countless hours to enhancing his photography, reporting, and interviewing skills. He immerses himself in every assignment, ensuring that he captures not only the essence of events but also the stories that lie beneath the surface. His commitment to excellence is evident in every article he produces, and he has shown remarkable adaptability in a fast-paced environment. He is always the first to volunteer for opportunities to cover events, actively seeking out ways to contribute and make a positive impact. Whether it’s a school or a community event, Hugo approaches each opportunity with enthusiasm, ready to unpack the important moments that might otherwise go unnoticed.
What sets Hugo apart is not just his skill, but also his openness to giving and receiving constructive criticism. He understands that feedback is essential for growth and improvement. His willingness to learn and adapt has made him a respected member of our team, and he makes it known that his peers can seek him out for advice and support.
In addition to his work with The Wolf Howl, Hugo has been actively involved on our campus in various roles. As the president of the Chandler Cross Gaming Club, he has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills and a skill for bringing people together over shared interests. His ability to create a welcoming and inclusive environment has allowed the club to flourish, fostering friendships among its members. Additionally, as a member of the eSports team, he has not only honed his competitive skills, but has also shown that teamwork and sportsmanship are crucial in both gaming and journalism.
After graduating high school, Hugo plans to study business in the technology industry at Arizona State University. His aspirations to bridge the worlds of business and technology reflect his forward-thinking mindset and ambition. We are confident that he will thrive in this new chapter, leveraging the skills he has developed during his time with us to tackle the challenges ahead.
Hugo’s vibrant personality has added something truly special to our staff. He brings a unique energy and enthusiasm that is both refreshing and inspiring. Whether it’s through his engaging stories, his warm smile, or his infectious laughter, he has left a true impact on all of us. While we are sad to see him go, we are excited to watch him pursue his dreams and achieve extraordinary things after graduation. His presence will be missed, but we look forward to cheering him on as he embarks on this new adventure.
