The high school years are tough for everyone, but Zariah Garcia was able to persevere.
Zariah has a warm presence and a divine singing voice; it is not surprising that she has had dreams of being a singer since childhood. “I dream of it every night,” Zariah said, “Realistically though? It’s hard to get into the industry.” Outside of singing, Zariah is looking at an eventual career in marine biology.
Zariah was determined to take control of her high school experience, even if it wasn’t necessarily like how it looks in the movies. Her advice to underclassmen is to not worry too much about making friends and just let things happen naturally; other people’s opinions of you are “not going to matter” in the long run.
Zariah is excited to graduate and build the life she wants beyond high school. “I’m happy to go,” she said. “Live life while you can, and don’t be afraid to live your life as an outsider.”
