At Chandler High School, the Book Club is not just another club; it’s the beating heart of our library. As the club continues to meet during advisory, they have a lot in store for the upcoming year.
Under the guidance of Mr. Mosqueda, the club’s advisor, the Book Club is set to conquer the monumental task of reading every book in the Jones Student Union. This ambitious goal is made possible by the dedicated team of officers: Julia Chamberlin, the president; Kayla Files, the treasurer; and Zaire Brown, the secretary. Their unwavering commitment is what makes this club truly spectacular, and we can’t wait to see what they will do this year!
There are so many opportunities available as a member of the Book Club, such as previewing books before they can be checked out at the JSU, discussing your favorite books with like-minded peers, finding a new favorite book, and most importantly, making new friends! Teagan Tollefson, a senior, says, “Reading helps you become smarter, and it is an amazing way to escape everyday life.” While reading isn’t something people partake in often anymore, it is a fantastic activity to do in your free time with many worthwhile outcomes. Reading can expose you to new ideas and perspectives, helping you understand our ever-changing world and the people within it.
All in all, the Chandler High Book Club is an amazing program that unites students who share a love for reading and a desire to explore the world through the pages of a book. Kayla also mentioned, “Hopefully we can have snacks this year while we talk about our books.” To make sure you receive your sweet treat, be sure to stop by their meetings!
